The Portage County Business Council is building on the foundation of a well-trained and diversified workforce as it strives to bring in new companies that will add to the diversity of the local market.

In recent years, the Business Council was instrumental in bringing Lands’ End to the County and has been seeking to recruit businesses requiring the skills of graduates of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical College.

Primary among these many skills are software development and environmental operations. Software-development companies like Skyward and Pro-Logic brought additional computer-technology jobs to Stevens Point – a positive sign for a hot and emerging 21st-Century economy.
