A courtesy member of the Portage County Business Council, Centergy is an organization formed more than 10 years ago under the name of Central Wisconsin Area Economic Development Council (CWAEDC). The group, comprised of a varied range of businesses, organizations, and individuals, came together to find ways to improve the region’s business climate and civic infrastructure. One of Centergy’s first accomplishments was advocating, lobbying, and gaining approval for a major state investment in road improvements.


Centergy cooperates with several area Chambers, including the Portage County Business Council, and Convention and Visitor Bureaus, economic development groups, and additional business partners. Today Centergy serves as a central resource for Portage, Marathon and Wood counties, bringing together the efforts of many entities and providing a unified voice to be heard by our state and local governments, and the greater business community. The work continues in business cluster development, supporting local businesses, attracting new businesses, achieving growth for higher education, and improving life in general for all Central Wisconsin residents.
