Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla is a full-service law firm founded in 1886 by Attorneys Byron B. Park and Gilbert L. Park. They opened a modern and well-equipped law office on Main Street in Stevens Point. Among the first clients were Civil War veterans who needed legal assistance to increase their benefits. The attorneys also settled land disputes in a peaceful manner and assisted in family and real estate matters, such as the transfer of land from one generation to the next. Park was also appointed a member of the Wisconsin Board of Regents of Normal Schools. He served from 1891-1894. His service would lead to Park’s most lasting legacy – the establishment of a normal school in Stevens Point. The school is now known as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Today, the law firm includes a team of 15 respected attorneys who are dedicated to their areas of law and the communities in which they live. The attorneys concentrate in one or more areas of civil law that affect individuals, families and businesses. The office staff consists of 18 trained and experienced individuals who assist the team of attorneys in the following areas:
An attorney typically completes seven years of post-secondary education before he or she receives a law degree. The Anderson Law Firm provides new associate attorneys with the opportunity to practice in all areas of law practiced at the firm. This allows the attorney to identify his or her areas of interest, which leads to the attorney’s concentration in a specific area(s) of law. Like many businesses, the Anderson Law Firm relies significantly on technology. Computers allow for ease in legal research, billing, and word processing. The law firm’s lengthy list of clients throughout Wisconsin and beyond keeps the attorneys and office staff busy meeting deadlines, preparing for trial and staying current with legal updates and can have these attorneys working into or through the night. The State Bar requires that attorneys complete 30 credit hours of continuing education every two years. Credit hours can be achieved by attending seminars and classes hosted by various schools and law firms throughout the year. Along with their completion of the required credits, most attorneys at Anderson Law Firm present advanced training classes and seminars to their peers, other businesses and the general public, which address the latest legal developments. Today Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla is one of Wisconsin’s most respected legal teams. To learn more, visit their website at www.andlaw.com or call 715-344-0890.![]()
