Honor Card
Honor Cards, used by Stevens Point area schools (public and parochial)
since 1989, and in the Tomorrow River Schools since 1998, are given to
junior and senior high school students with a grade point average of 3.2
or above. The Portage County Business Council Foundation arranges business
community sponsors yearly who provide a discount and/or free item to students
who receive Honor Cards.
Partners In Education (PIE)
In 1997 the Business Council Foundation implemented the Partners
In Education (PIE) program. Partners In Education works to foster
the growth of partnerships between the business and educational communities
to advocate for support of work-based learning experiences. Partners In
Education begins in elementary school by creating an awareness of different
careers through speakers, tours and classroom activities. Students better
define their interests in middle school with exploration activities like
career days and job shadowings. In high school, students focus on specific
areas of interest through job shadowing, school-based projects and work-based
employment opportunities.
